Ring and summit of Monte Pizzocco with lunch in the refuge at Casera ERE

We propose this beautiful loop tour starting in the locality of Roer, above the hamlet of Roncoi in the municipality of San Gregorio nelle Alpi at about twenty minutes by car from the residence.

WARNING: This ring-route, in its complete version, is a very demanding trek reserved for very experienced and trained hikers (1200 metres of difference in height), but don’t worry, at the bottom of the page you will find the reduced version for a nice family excursion to the refuge.

At the high car park, leave your car and start the steep ascent on CAI path 851 to the stupendous Forcella Intrigos: the first obligatory pause for admiration.

Continue to the junction with CAI path 853 where you turn right if you want to reach the summit. This last part is in a rocky environment and with a rather exposed passage but you will be amply rewarded by the 365-degree view that opens up at the summit. On a clear day, binoculars in hand, you can make out the bell tower of San Marco in Venice.

The descent is along the same route to the aforementioned crossroads, where we turn right at marker 853 to reach Rifugio Ere.

If you want to dine at the hut, which offers excellent, homemade and copious mountain style dishes, we advise you to set off early, as the round trip up takes at least 4 hours, even 5 depending on the pace, and if you take a due break to take pictures and eat a bite at the summit.

Here is the breathtaking panorama that opens up to you, north side.

Shortened version up to the Casera Ere hut and back:

To do this hike with the little ones, you start from the same car park and it is about 3 km and 350 m of altitude difference to reach the hut with a walking time of about one hour, walking on a comfortable forest road or via the path (marker 853) and back.
