Monte Sperone: up and down and lunch at Bacchetti’s
This is really the ‘home’ hike: you can in fact comfortably walk out of the Fioralpino. If, on the other hand, you prefer to reduce the effort (800m up from the residence), by car follow the road towards the deviation to the “chiesetta degli alpini” (alpine little church), there is a car park at an altitude of 650 m where you will find the map of the paths.
Continue along the steep forest road to the locality of ‘Staol del Doro’; the route goes on along the mule track in a westerly direction and shortly afterwards the path goes through a beautiful hazelnut forest.
Following the blue trail, you come to a fork (Col de le Cavale). Turn right and follow the sign ‘Monte Sperone’.
You arrive at Forcella Pradel, where you get your first glimpse of the superb view of Lake Mis at 1070 m.
From here, the path becomes steeper, following the ridge of the foresummit. The end of the hike requires great care, as the spectacular ridge trail is exposed to both sides, on your righthand Valbelluna and left Val del Mis, offering breathtaking views of the two valleys. In short
you will finally reach the summit cross.
If you set off pretty early in the morning, without sandwiches in your backpack, (about 4 hours round trip) and wish to reward yourself for the effort of this intense hike, we recommend a rich lunch at our trusted tavern ‘Bacchetti’. It is located just a few minutes’ drive from Fioralpino, in Mis di Sospirolo. You can enjoy hearty dishes of traditional Veneto and Belluno cuisine, of excellent quality and in a family atmosphere.
